THE JOURNAL

A well distributed and read publication amongst the Australian community.

The Journal was first published in the Autumn of 1993 with Joe O’Sullivan as Editor.  The purpose was to announce the formation of The Australian Irish Heritage Association: non-political, non-sectarian and proudly Australian.

The Association was established in response to a perception that many people of Irish descent or birth wished to be kept informed about their Irish heritage, a heritage which is not confined to the mother country’s but includes Irish-Australia’s.

In 1994 the name changed to The Australian Irish Heritage Association WA.  Since then The Journal has continued to increase awareness of the contribution to Australia by people of Irish descent.  We have regular contributors from within the Irish/Australian community and overseas who continue to identify sources of Australia’s Irish heritage, both historical and contemporary.
